It's been a while, and I now no longer work for an appliance dealer, so I feel free to say what I believe to be true, without comprimising anybody.

First...Maytag...once a great family run opperation, with solid products...then boom...they start breaking down, washers leaking, overall not so good...and a corperation to boot.

About two years ago from what I understand...Whirlpool purchased the bankrupt remains of Maytag, and vowed to put them back on the map.

And they are.

Maytag washers and dryers are great again...but don't be surprised if you notice that the interiors look almost identical to the Whirlpool ...because they are.

Right now the Maytags tend to be the better deals, but the look isn't as nice as the Whirlpool...but if you want great function...(in front loaders) for a fair price...the whirlpool and the Maytag are almost the same thing....one or the other might have one or two additional functions, and the outsides look different, but they are the same great quality.

So if you are on your way out to purchase appliances...don't be afraid of Maytag, they are not the same as a few years ago...so anything pretty much in the past year is actually a better product, now that Whirlpool owns them.
